Warehouse cleaning Sydney sites are sold is often just office cleaning with a bigger mop. It fails within a month. A mop and bucket on 3,000m² of concrete moves dirty water from one end of the aisle to the other; it does not lift burnished forklift rubber, it does not touch the dust sitting on the third beam of the racking, and it will not go anywhere near the dock apron. The floor gets greyer, the line marking disappears, and by the time somebody slips near the wrap station it has become a safety conversation rather than a cleaning one.

The floor, and why the first clean is different

Warehouse concrete accumulates two things: loose dust and soil that sits on the surface, and tyre rubber and grease that is pressed into it. The first responds to sweeping and a routine scrub. The second does not — it needs an alkaline degreaser, a correctly graded pad and often two or three passes with a ride-on scrubber. Most sites we walk have not had a proper restorative clean in years, so we quote that as a separate, one-off line item. Once the concrete is back, a maintenance scrub every week or fortnight holds it there for a fraction of the effort. We tell clients honestly which of the two they are looking at, because charging maintenance rates for a restoration job is how cleaners end up under-delivering and then walking away.

Zones, not shifts

A Sydney distribution centre does not have a convenient empty hour. So we map the floor into zones — receiving, bulk racking, pick faces, marshalling, dispatch, dock — and we clean the zones that are quiet, moving as your operation moves. Wet areas are coned and signed, and no racking aisle is closed off without your supervisor agreeing to it first. On single-shift sites we simply take the window between last dispatch and first pick. On 24-hour sites we work behind a spotter. Either way, the commitment is the same: our scrubber is never the reason a truck leaves late.

Dust, racking and the things above head height

Dust in a warehouse does not stay where it lands. It sits on beams and wire decking until a forklift mast disturbs it, and then it settles on your stock. We vacuum and dust racking uprights, beams and decking within safe reach using HEPA-filtered industrial vacuums and extension poles — never compressed air, which relocates the problem into the product zone and, in a food-grade facility, into a non-conformance. Work above safe reach needs an elevated work platform, a spotter and its own safe work method statement, so we scope it as a periodic program rather than sliding it into a nightly visit and quietly never doing it.

The dock, the spills and the safety line

Loading docks take the worst of it: tyre soil, packaging debris, bird activity, standing water, oil from tail lifts. We sweep and wash dock aprons and roller-door thresholds, degrease where hydraulic fluid has dripped, and clear the drains that quietly block until the first heavy rain. Spills of oil, grease and food product are contained, absorbed, degreased and scrubbed so the concrete is not left slick. Where a spill involves a dangerous good, that falls under the emergency procedure for your site — we assist with the cleanup once the area is declared safe, and we do not represent ourselves as a hazmat contractor, because we are not one.

The amenities your staff and auditors actually judge you on

The floor gets the attention, but the crib room, the toilets and the front office are what your team and your visiting customers form their opinion from. We clean them to the same standard as an office contract, on the same visit, on the same invoice: benches, sinks, microwaves, fridge exteriors, pans, basins, mirrors, consumables restocked, floors mopped. It costs very little on top of a warehouse scope and it is consistently the thing site managers tell us they notice first.
